America’s Boating Course

(Valley Southwoods)

Course Description:
America's Boating Course is a unique study program covering the fundamentals of boating.  The course is designed for skippers and crew of  all types of watercraft. The course material covers seven chapters, which touch on:

  • general information about boats and maintenance
  • information to make your boating experience safer and more comfortable
  • tips on being a more courteous boat operator
  • laws and regulations to which you must adhere

The course materials include both an 80 page full color manual.

03/29/08 (Nebraska)The Operations workshop will be held on Saturday, March 29 at Metro Community College, South Campus in the Community Room (same room as last two years) beginning at 0830.  This Mandatory workshop will include the 1 hr TCT refresher class, Communication updates and IS updates. DRU training will be held in the parking lot after the Operations workshop. Members of Flotilla 7 will provide the DRU training.  The DRU training is used during flood conditions.

04/05/08 (Nebraska) An 8 hour TCT class will be held at Eppley Fire Department on Saturday, April 5th beginning at 0830.  Please register with Pauline Longnecker prior to the class.  This class must be taken prior to be checked on for Boat Crew/Coxswain training.

04/13/2008 at 1500 hours at Camp Dodge. Member Training: Mr. Berry on Operational workshop.

04/26/08 (Nebraska) On April 26th Division will be holding a training at Mahoney State Park along with the Division meeting followed by the Awards banquet. Training

will be on VE, IT and a table top exercise for a river SAR.

05/11/2008 at 1500 hours at Camp Dodge. Member Training: Mr. Anderson on required workshops.

06/08/2008 at 1500 hours at Camp Dodge. Member Training: Mr. S. Johnson on inflatable PFDs.
